  • Field Network Technician


    Job Description: The Field Network Technician position entails reporting to one of our clients offices. You will be responsible for maintaining a multi-location network with a very demanding client. You will be working remotely from our client's office (not our office) with occasional travel to clients in the northern NJ area to solve desktop, server, firewall, router, software, and general network problems. Experience with N-Able & ConnectWise is a major plus. Our company provides services to a wide range of clients who outsource their IT needs to us. The position is challenging; it is not entry level. The person chosen for this position will be exposed to a variety of local and wide area network technologies. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills who can work through tough situations and solve challenging problems.

    Job Requirements: You must have at least 3 years FIELD experience working with desktop operating systems and at least 2 years working with servers. You must be able to work with customers as a consultant as well as a technician. A solid history of working in a team environment is required. You must have a valid driver license with a vehicle in good working order. Car travel may be required (unless traveling into NYC, then public transportation is acceptable). You must be able to lift computer equipment, work on the telephone for extended periods of time.

    Required skill set: THREE years supporting Windows Vista, XP Pro and Windows 7 Pro. Two years installing, supporting, and/or upgrading Windows Server 2008 or 2003 with Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2003 and/or Exchange 2007/10 in a production business environment (setting up servers in a classroom environment does not qualify). You must know local and wide area networking concepts, topologies, and how the Internet works.

    Preferred skills: Preference will be given to individuals who have experience with the following: Cisco Switch & Routers, Symantec or Sophos Anti-Virus Enterprise Edition, Sonicwall & VMware.

    Relevant certifications: Preference will be given to individuals who possess the following certifications. Note that certifications are not equivalent to work experience. MCSA, MCSE, MCP (any Windows server product), CCNA, Network +. Note that if you do not have the CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Networking Essentials certifications at this time you will be required to pass ONE of the tests within 60 days of start date. Only ONE is required.

    Communication skills: We seek an individual who loves working with people and is able to articulate technical problems into layman's terms for customers who are not technical. You must have EXCELLENT communication and people skills. You must be capable of dealing with very stressful situations and handling the client with confidence and reassurance when problems arise. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to write clearly and effectively.

    Education: Preference will be give to individuals who possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.

    Geographic area: You must currently reside within a 30 mile radius of Morristown, NJ and must be a resident of NJ or NY.
